Below are frequently asked questions from our job seekers about how to effectively market oneself at a career fair. In order, to compete and capture the attention of hiring managers, we suggest paying close attention to the questions and answers on this page.

Q: Which companies will be in attendance at the Career Fair?

In order to view company list, you must pre-register for the event.  Pre-registration allows us to forward your resume to employers as well as provide you with a list of companies attending the career fair.

Q: What should I bring to the Career Fair?

Bring 20-30 copies of your resumes. Also, bring a notepad to document important information while speaking with employers. Notes taken during the career fair will be essential in your follow-up with recruiters after the job fair.

Q: How do I prepare for the career fair?

You will pre-register and submit your resume.  After pre-registration, you will receive an email one week prior to the event with information about all positions and companies attending the career fair. Once you receive the list of companies, then we suggest you complete a thorough research of the companies that you are interested in applying for a position.  On the day of the Career Fair, all of your research will help you shine while talking with recruiters because it will reveal your professionalism, knowledge of their company, and interest in the position.

Q: Will parking be provided for attendees?

Focus Career Fairs will not be responsible for parking. However, most of the hotels that host our career fairs have ample parking available for all attendees.

Q: What should I wear to the career fair?

Professional attire is mandatory. Remember, you want to make a positive first impression when meeting recruiters and hiring managers.  Your appearance should not be a distraction. Allow your skills, experience, and great communication be the lasting impression on recruiters.

Q: What if a recruiter wants to schedule another interview with me?

Mission accomplished! Obviously, you made a great impression with your work experience, communication skills, and appearance. Now, simply, prepare for the next step: the interview.  Begin by researching the company. Learn about their products, their vision, their values, and most importantly, why you are the best person to join their organization.

For more exposure to employers, it's recommended to post your resume to multiple job boards and work with an organization that will assist with posting your resume. We recommend: Resume Rabbit
